I hope everyone is soaking up this Summer heat… I most defs am! And I have been on the lookout for items that keep me looking & feeling cool, and of course have that practical feel for the city. Co- ords totally fit this criteria. Whether you rock pants with a crop, or a skirt or short co-ord, they make for classy & cool outfits with absolute minimum effort. The 4th of July weekend is here and what better way to celebrate the festivities than in your own little rendition of blue, white, and stripes? You can totally add in a small pop of red to really tie in that patriotic feel. A red lip perhaps?
This season, I am making serious closet space for stripes! The vertical pattern really plays with the visual aspect of my outfit, but soooo many people shy away from stripes because of the idea that stripes are unflattering to our figures. It honestly just depends on your body type and what you’re comfortable to try out. I love a vertical stripe because it elongates my body, which really helps when you are only 5,3. The high waisted pants and cute crop really accentuate my waist and draws the eye towards my hourglass body shape (Perhaps a follow-up post on flattering stripes for every body type? Yes? No? Comment below!)
I never ever used to wear stripes (I always thought I would look like a ‘sailor girl’!) but after I spotted this really cute silhouette, I fiiiinally tried the trend and gave in to the fashion gods. And I am having so much fun with this nautical, yet chic & modernised trend. This co-ord has such fresh feels, and by combining the co-ord, stripe, and off-shoulder trends into one outfit…. ‘sailor girl’? seriously? More like chic and sophisticated, especially with the belted pants that accentuate the waist area.
The accessories & styling you choose just take this trend to the top notch. You really want to keep the co-ord as centre focus, so pairing crisp silver eye-catchers will really do the trick. The silver eyelets on my white purse are simple but striking. See how I have matched up the circles with stripes? It’s a really cute contrast, but just don’t go overboard. I also added silver earring studs and my new fave over-sized cat sunnies to the mix. Celebratory weekend here I come!
