Trend Spotter: Embroidery Dresses

I am just lovingggg floral embroidery. Such a major trend right now. It has been splashed all over our newsfeeds, literally popping up left, right, and centre! But I do have to admit to you guys… I didn’t really rush to the nearest store when I first laid eyes on the trend. I was not such a huge fan when the ‘floral feels’ flared up and I actually said I would never rock this trend. I eventually ended up thinking of ways to style my outfit according to the trend. And here I am, feeling fab in floral. “Never say never” haha.

I have been especially drawn towards the colourful embroidery pieces that accentuate the simple black designs. Kinda like the final golden touches on a clean-cut canvas. This really is the perfect dress for spring, and defos one of my style picks of the moment. But for those of you guys prepping for winter on the other side of the world, tights look super cute with a dress like this. Add some over-the-knee boots and you’re good to go!

I think it’s fair to say that soooo many of us, on more days than we should, just grab the first black item in our wardrobes (stage 5 colourless clinger, I know). It really is the safe choice, right? One of the best things I love about the embroidery trend is that it breaks the same old predictable black-on-black look (bye bye Morticia Addams vibes!) The embroidery just takes an outfit from boring to bold in literally 2.5 seconds; replacing ‘safe’ with ‘so playful’ and ‘sophisticated’. So yes, you can defs rock this dress during that important internship, where the seriousness of black is met by minimalist flowery fun. Or how about a Spring brunch with the girls, maybe even that high tea I was telling you about? Seriously versatile!

Styling these little dresses is super simple. With all the detail going on, you don’t want to overload the look with accessories. Simplicity is key! A cute bag and a pair of booties really bring the look to life. Too hot for booties? You can always opt for a pair of cute little wrap ‘round sandals. I scored this super cute dress from Zara… is it me or is Zara absolutely killing the floral embroidery game lately? Below I have linked a few of my favourite embroidery dresses that are perfect for all types of occasions. I also added the hat for fun! It really does just help maximise that style factor.
